Dear Diary: Terrible Mishaps, continued.

Posted by Robert on Mar 20, 2010

So, you now know why I wasn’t able to write in so long, and that Legolas broke his leg. Okay, continuing where I left off.

So Legolas had fallen off the cliff thing, and broke his leg, as you know. Then I looked frantically for a way down the cliff. When I found one, I picked my way around rocks and all sorts of debris till I reached him. He was lying still. I rushed to him, checked his pulse. Well, he was still alive at least. I guess just unconscious.  So I started to drag him back up the way I had come down.

When I had reached the top, I set him down and took a breather. In the mean time I tried to think where I could’ve put my diary. Then I realized the last time I had written was way back near Minas Tirith. I was so annoyed. Then Legolas began to stir. He then sat bolt upright and screamed so loud, I was sure the dead could hear.

That’s when it hit me: we weren’t lost. We were in the the ravine on the road to the Paths of the Dead in Rohan (You know, where the Oathbreakers that Aragorn tamed “lived”). I was so relieved, I picked Legolas up, who started to scream even louder, and hugged so hard I’m afraid I broke one of his ribs.

Then I heard a horn blow. Then another one. They sounded like the horns of Rohan. About 10 minuted later, Eomer himself showed and asked what we were up to. Then he saw Legolas, and ordered his men to take him back to Edoras at top speed. I took the opportunity to ask Eomer if he could take me back to Gondor to find my diary.

Well, all that needs to be told now is that I found you, and Eomer visited Eowyn and Farmamir for a week (there was no talking him out of this), and then a week after that, I showed up in Edoras, and Legolas was slowly healing.

I am glad to have ended with some good news.

Gimli.

Dear Diary: Terrible Mishaps

Posted by Robert on Mar 19, 2010

I’m sorry it took so long for my next entry, but I have my reasons, which I will explain here.

Well, first off, we happened to take a wrong turn. Like, really wrong. We thought we were going the perfectly correct direction when we noticed the area didn’t look familiar. Well, then we went to see what direction we were going: North, East, South, or West. So I reached for the compass. It wasn’t there. I was like, “Oh, no, what now?” Legolas was like, “Well, I’m an elf. Elves don’t need compasses. We look at the sun.” And look at the sun he did. I don’t think he knows, but I heard him mutter, “…now if only I can remember what direction the sun rises from…” I didn’t respond, for fear he would get all offended and throw a tantrum. After about a minute, Legolas was still looking at the sun. So I nudged him and said, “We should just keep going.” He nodded and said, pointing in the direction we had been going, “Yeah, I was just about to say to go that way.” Well, I figured I would let him think he was all high and mighty, you know, figuring out which way to go. First mistake.

That night, when I sat down to write an entry in my beloved diary, I noticed that it wasn’t in my bag. My first thought was that Legolas had stolen it and was looking at all my secrets. So I asked him. His response: “I didn’t even know you  had a diary….” So that was it. My diary was lost. Which explains my having not written anything recently.

The next morning, we traveled long and hard. I won’t describe all the details. But then we reached some point in our travel where if we went on, we would travel between two cliffs. Well, Mr. High-and-Mighty-Elf says we should keep going. Being a dwarf, I know that the rock these cliffs were made of was not good omen. But, oh well, Legolas wouldn’t be swayed. Second mistake. Well, I estimate it was about, hmmm, maybe 4:50 in afternoon, when we went around a sharp bend, and, to my surprise, there was a steep cliff right in front of my feet. Fortunately, I stopped in time. Legolas, on the hand, poor elf, plummeted right down the bottom. I heard a loud and resounding crack and thought: Oh, I hope that wasn’t his head. It wasn’t. It was his leg. Poor elf. Well, this entry is getting rather long, and I will try to give more story tomorrow. Maybe I will explain how I found you, my sweet and beloved diary.

Dear Diary: It looks like Legolas is having a bad day.

Posted by Robert on Jun 5, 2009

Legolas said that since we’re going to the Glittering Caves, I should lead the way. So, I agreed. But when we were 10 or more miles away from Minas Tirith, Legolas just couldn’t stand “it” anymore. He just started yelling at me and getting really cranky. When I asked what his problem was, he wouldn’t answer. Now, we Dwarves, in our childhood, we’re taught about Elves and their strange ways, and every reason to avoid one. I understood this as “The missing of things that grow.” So, I tactfully asked Legolas in a round-about way if he wanted to go Isengard first. He must’ve been having a very bad day, because he agreed without any argument. So, now we’re on our way to Isengard, and what he doesn’t know is that after we’ve looked at that for a little, I’m going to lead him into Fangorn Forest, and then he can see some trees and Ents. I plan on going all the way through, so as to end up in Rohan. Then, we’ll stop at Edoras first and visit Eomer, then go see the Glittering Caves. I wonder if that will cheer Legolas up?

Who says Dwarves are cruel?

Dear Diary: We are on our way!!

Posted by Robert on Jun 4, 2009

Yes! Finally we are all packed and ready to go (I have no idea what took Legolas so long; he claimed his hair was a mess) to the Glittering Caves of Helm’s Deep! After we make our trip there, we’ll probably stop at Edoras to visit Eomer and pay our respects to Theoden’s grave. There we’ll give Eomer the news that Eowyn and Faramir got married a couple months ago or so (longer? I do not know. Didn’t keep track of the days. It is so much fun in Gondor). I have a feeling that Legolas is starting to miss all sorts of greenery. I don’t blame him. There aren’t even any plants on our plates to eat!

Will write tomorrow

Dear Diary: I am Learning Elvish!

Posted by Robert on Jun 3, 2009

Legolas taught me some Elvish! Legolas Onen Thranduil i-Estel Eldar, u-chebin estel anim. That means: Legolas son of Thranduil is the prettiest elf, and can boss the others around. I think Elvish is pretty cool! I can modify it: Gimli Onen Gloin i-Estel Durin, u-chebin estel anim! That’s pretty cool. You know what else? Legolas said we can go to the Glittering Caves of Helm’s Deep! I am getting ready for that now.

Okay, signing out now.
